Majesty died. It wasn't fun at all the watch the process. I went to hold her like I do every day and I realized she was stiffening and rigor mortise was setting in. The only thing she could move was her claw. She was pinching me on and off. I think she was in pain and was blaming her external surroundings as she didn't understand.

I tried giving her water but that just resulted in her throwing it up. It gave a very bad smell. Sir smelled the same way when she was dying.

Then within two minutes, Majesty stopped moving her claw and rolled over onto her back. I realized then that she died because her antennae stopped moving and when I touched them, they gave no reaction.

So I held her in my hand for about three minutes then I stored her away in a container.

But as the days pass, I feel better about it. I'm sad that I'll never be able to hold her or see her walking around anymore. But I'm glad that she's not suffering anymore and that she had a nice life. She was hardly ever in her container - was always stimulated. Fed well. Got to go outside plenty of times.

And now I've got Tenodera Sinensis to care for, as well as Phyllocrania Paradoxa which I'll soon be getting...

Oh, what a sad story... I'm crying now :( Poor Majesty. She was so pretty and it sounds like she had a wonderful mantid life. It sounds like you're the same kind of owner as I am - always trying to give my mantids as much time out of their containers as possible :)

I'm sorry that you were crying. It is really sad, though. She definitely was a beauty and she was a very tame, relaxed, happy mantid. And awesome! Mantids deserve freedom! Lol :)

Very sad. :( I think she had a good life. She was kind and healthy. I'm sorry you lost Sally. Orchid mantids are awesome. :) And I definitely think they'll keep me busy. I'll be having 2 of those as well as the Tenodera sinensis I already have :D
