3 out of the 4 mantids have made it successfully to L6! Very excited! I think I have two males and two females. Not sure, but just looking at the abdomens that's my thought. Waiting for the fourth one to join the ranks!
We have one that has made it to L6 successfully! I have two more showing signs of molting and the 4th one is doing her own thing. I'm convinced the 4th one is a female!
All four L5 mantids doing well! Eating a lot and expecting a molt within the next few days hopefully!
My PC hard drive has finally died - I'm using Linux Mint LIVE DVD to access anything like the forum, so forgive me if I'm not around much (what rotten luck lately... only good thing is I was able to pull the files off the Seagate 750GB drive to an external one before the final crash and it quit working at all)
MantidBrosorry for the bad luck!

All 4 mantids have made it to L5! Fourth one molted last night! The others had their first cricket today! Big steps! Fed the crickets first clear their digestive track! Getting bigger!
3 of the 4 have made it successfully to L5! I was able to watch 2 of them molt; always a treat! Waiting for the 4th and time to catch bigger food!
I became a mantis enthusiast because our 7 year old grandson has leukemia and the only pet he can have right now is a mantis. Now I'm into them bc two oothecas I thought were duds have hatched!

My L4's are doing well! Expecting a molt real soon!
It's been awhile since I've been here last, loosing internet for a month and trying to get caught back up - so hello :)
MantidBroYoure welcome, mine have been adults for quite a while now! They do have a lot of molts, the most molts I have witnessed in a species yet!

One mantis has successfully molted to L4 during the night! They're getting bigger!
All four of the mantids have made it successfully to L3! One of them is a day behind the others so I might have to feed him a little more!
MantidBroAwesome! i have some wild ones here too, i may have collected too many as pets, i havent seen any oothecae this year :/ well at least not by my house, im sure there are some elsewhere, i saw a mantid at a different spot too. Ikr?? they come in lots of different colors!

minomantisyea, I really want to broaden my mantis horizon and raise the orchid mantids and ghost mantids, but I wouldn't know what to do with them if they started producing oothecae...We'll see though.

Two of the L2's have made it successfully to L3! One is hanging upside down so I'm assuming she's next and the fourth is still hanging around!
