Hello Everyone! Just wanted show some of the mantids I'm keeping this year and the photography I have been doing with them. I have been breeding exotic mantids for about two years now, but I have always raised mantids that are native to my area. The most fascinating thing about the Praying mantis, is that there are thousands of species worldwide and not one is the same. They all have different adaptations to be able to survive in their environment despite every predator wanting to make a meal of them. My mission is to show the beauty of insects through my writing and pictures. Hope you all enjoy!

Decimiana bolivari females

Difference in size between adult and subadult female

Adult female Decimiana bolivari playing dead

Startled adult female

Gorgeous threat display of a female

Adult female in resting posture. This girl is Aphrodite, her larger sister is Artemis

The 2 Decimiana bolivari females tolerating each other's presence

Artemis doing what she does best, wait patiently and act like a leaf

Successful pairing of the Decimiana bolivari! The male is longer than her but certainly not stronger!

Adult female Orchid I named Blossom

Blossom mating with her tiny male! She was not aggressive at all!

Here he is! His drumming on her wings was very loud!

Look at her eyes! They turn different colors every night! This one was very special. The male is still with her to this day!

Safe in the vivarium

He stayed attached even after done mating. I guess she does not mind him.

About a week later the pair is still living happily

Blossom's 1st oothecae! It is almost as long as her!
