Some of my coworkers found this in our supply room and saved it for me. any idea what type of mantid it is mantis.jpg

I'd need to see the inside of his arms to tell with more certainty, but if I had to make a fairly blind guess I'd go with Mantis religiosa - European.

Does he have what look like eyes on his biceps?

If not, where are you located?

yes he does have the 2 black spots on the inside of his arms. he will be added to my little collection of mantids. i will say this year has been kind of bad finding any mantids at all.

thats good to know hes a male. now if i could just find a female. Mantids have been pretty scarce around here for the past few years.

It would have been good if it was a female because she would probably be mated in the wild. Look in tall grass.
