For the background of this photo, I actually used the box that my mom's new teapot came in! I spotted it and instantly thought 'hmm...perfect photo background!' Hope you don't mind, Mom...
Yeah, I think I do too. It's especially good with the color of the flower, since the flower was originally yellow.
Thanks, ScienceGirl! I definitely like taking pictures outside to give the natural effect, and I love the leaves that fall off of our Japanese maple trees. They work well with green mantises because of the color contrast.

Lol I didn't even notice that. That must be a really little mantis! I had some baby M. religiosas earlier this year that were almost invisible they were so tiny.

I know - they're so precious! It was really neat because I got to watch them as they were wiggling their way out. They were so tiny...
They aren't really quite that dark - I don't know why the picture looks like that
