Seeing as my mantids are all eating houseflies now, I looked around the forum for ideas on new ways to keep them.
I bought these containers from mantisplace to help with escapees and convenience. I hatch the pupae in there and the flies start moving around in the bigger part of the container.
I then put them in applesauce jars, or into a 2 liter soda bottle, with some apple in the bottom.
When they've been fed for a couple days with apple, I move them into a milk jug, (completly and shamelessly stealing Darkspeed's design) with honey soaked cottonballs inside.
When I'm about to feed them, I throw them in this bottle of yen's feeder dust.
Then they go straight into the mantid's enclosure. It's pretty easy actually. I just freeze them before they go into the dump of pollen
