Woods aren't very good since wild mantis like to sun themselves for part of the day, they like garden beds where bee's and flies go for the pollen and nectar. No crime in taking a ooth or 2(don't take them all) and tying it to a tree/shrub at your place to get to see them again in spring... ;)

Should have feed them and left them together, he probably would have re-connected, a male can look fine today and then die of old age the very next day.

I would suggest looking at some of Precarious photos, he's the best and many are close up macros.

Welcome friend, but as far as your want ad, Orchids are really not for beginners as 99% of newbies will shortly be left with a mantis that they can only pin... Budwings, creo's, basically cheaper mantis are far better for a rookie to start with, not that many people listen when told this but...

I've done this with as many as 3 wild caught ooths at a time and I did see hundreds of little nymphs all over my yard but the following year I only found 2 adults over the coarse of several months, in short they will go where they want and chances are it won't be your yard, but hey its still...

Ok I'll take the bait, I'm guessing y'all threw a mantis party complete with little tiny tea cups to celebrate my absence yelling out "hurray he's finally gone" ! :(

I don't believe love ever truly leaves you, it's like gum on the bottom of a table you just have to pop it back in your mouth to get it warm and gooshy again. :kiss:
