You could also say that you are shipping plants. I used to ship carnivorous plants a lot and never had a problem. Sometimes they would ask if I wanted to write "live plants" on the box. I usually didn't. You only really have to disclose if it has dangerous or restricted items.
A good way to know if vendors are allowed to sell mantids is to check the vendor rules. Some shows have very few restrictions and others have a ton. The people selling mantids generally stick with shows that have few restrictions. That doesn't mean they will have them, but you have a better...
It's always awsome to catch them in the act. My shield had a ninja molt a while back. He ate the day before which he never did before a molt. I figured it would be another week before he molted. I was walking by and decided to pick up his cage and take a look. He was hanging just like yours. I...
I had a great experience with Aryia. I ordered a pair of dead leaf mantis from her. Something happened to the female during shipping and her abdomen seemed to collapse. She died later that night. I messaged aryia and she didn't have any more adults left so she offered me nymphs. She gave me...
Ordered a pair of violin mantis from kermit. They just arrived and are in great condition.
Great communication and very quick delivery. I wouldn't hesitate to order from him agian.
You could find an old refrigerator/freezer, strip out all the unnecessary parts and convert it into an incubator. It won't give you a nice view of the mantids but it will work. If you wanted to get fancy and have the money you could make a glass door to go on the front.
She molted! I think she was just really full from her last feeding and was trying to get deflated enough to have a good shed. It was a perfect molt. Thanks for all the help guys.
Oh man, that sucks. I hope everything gets better for them.
I think it's been almost two months since she has molted. Her wing buds are huge. So I think she is due to molt any time now.
No vomit. That was the first thing I checked. She isn't overly skinny and she had a bigger meal than usual the last time she ate. I ran out of bb flies so I had to give her bubias. She ate the dubias last time I fed her, but I think she really prefers flies. I think I will have to put in another...
Sorry, somthing went wrong and it posted somthing I typed a couple weeks ago and decided not to post because I figured it out. I edited the post to the correct text.
My female mantis has stopped eating and I assume it is because of a upcoming molt. The only problem is it has been more than a week. Has anyone else had a mantis go off food for this long?
