    Gravid Mantis Care

Hello everyone! My R.Basalis mated a while ago and I've been waiting on some ooths! I was wondering what everyone else's experience with this species was when it comes to WHEN (approximately) the first ooth was laid. I was also wondering about how much I should feed her? I've been seeing people...

    R. Basalis hole in shield

Here we go, this might actually work this time, the second picture is with flash and the first without.

    R. Basalis hole in shield

Hey everyone! My R. Basalis has seemingly developed a hole in the shield. I was wondering if anyone had seen this before? I don't think that it was a molting issue as he hasn't molted in awhile and his last molt went extremely smoothly. I was thinking maybe it could be fungal? or he could've...

    Rhombodera experiments

Wow, those would make for some very pretty mantises! I wonder what kind of morphs do exist for invertebrates and how they would interact with each other!

    Rhombodera experiments

Woah, that's pretty neat! I didn't do too much research into the topic before I started this. I didn't realize that albino morphs were visible in difference from the wild types. I know that in some beetles they get just white eyes, so it makes sense the eyes would be red here. Maybe I should try...

    Rhombodera experiments

Thanks! Either way, beautiful species, can't wait to see how both turn out as adults

    Rhombodera experiments

What do you think of the mantises though? I purchased them from a different breeder entirely and they were marketed as Rhombodera Basalis, the pigmentation on the hood seemed interesting to me, I'm really just curious if anyone else has done something like this before too.

    Rhombodera experiments

Hello! I'm pretty new here, but I thought this little experiment of mine with R. Basalis would prove interesting. I currently own two beautiful R. Basalis, I got them as nymphs around L3 or 4. Before I purchased both nymphs, I had seen a "morph" from 2018 of a 'red devil' Rhombodera species. The...

Rhombodera basilis/megaera and Orchid mantis wanted

Hello, As the title suggests, I am currently looking for any of the rhombodera megaera, and rhombodera basalis. I'd also be interested in any Orchid mantids on the market, though I'm guessing it'll be awhile before either rhombodera species or orchid mantids fall in my lap. Let me know if there...

    Fall from molt

Hello everyone, I guess this is just another post to warn against the dangers of failed molts... One of my three Rhombodera basalis, I think L5/L6, was molting the other day. Plummeted to the bottom of a tiny deli cup about 5 inches tall. Ended up being mangled and had to be euthanized. Lost two...
