Thank you so much for the detailed response! Yea, 24/7 pretty much since that's what most of the few care sheets I could find would suggest. But if room temp worked for you then I'm going to try that for sure. I already ordered another one! I'm going to remove the green climbing stick this time...
Greetings,
I'd gotten a Heterochaeta (named Cinnamon) about 2-3 weeks ago that was between L3-L5. I set them up in a specially-designed deli cup with various climbing points and tulle fabric glued to the sides along with a thin layer of Repti-soil as substrate. I kept the cup on the edge of a...
Hey guys! I received a deroplatys lobata (Zebra) and an heterochaeta orientalis (Cinnamon) the other day and I put together deli cup enclosures for them. To be honest though, I'm considering switching their cups as Cinnamon's current cup is giving me mismolt anxiety from the small gaps between...
I see, thanks! 🤔 I was thinking of having a piece of cork bark or some wood up high (maybe an inch of space between it and the ceiling to prevent it being used as a molting spot) and protruding towards the inside of that tank. I was also considering using the advice for nymph enclosures in the...
Hey guys, this is a question I've been wondering as I'm going to design my heterochaeta sp. their final enclosure. Do they analyze their surroundings first?
Greetings everyone,
For some time now I've been interested in eventually getting my hands on an empusid such as a violin mantis. However, from what I've learned, empusids have trouble climbing smooth surfaces and thus glass enclosure aren't quite suitable for them. I was wondering if you could...
Tl;dr at the bottom
Hi everyone, I'm in a bit of a situation. My L4 rhombodera megaera, Aloe, fell off the table while I was trying to feed him. I reflexively caught him but I accidentaly pinched him between my thumb and index. This apparently caused his head to slightly dislocate from his...
Yea I know, that's why I mentioned her abdomen shrinking due to the wings being more exposed than before. Look at these pictures I took after her adult molt. 6 segments I believe and her wings pass her abdomen just a bit which matches pictures of other female spinys. I've tried finding a picture...
Hi guys, recently my adult female spiny flower mantis (molted 2 weeks ago), Emilii, has been acting very anxiously and defensively. I'd find her pacing around her enclosure and sometimes desperately trying to climb up. This had led to fall a couple of times before righting herself back up. As of...
Ordered a Psuedocreobotra Wahlbergii from @Grapple_Apple. Mantis was shipped in a well-packaged, insulated, and heated shipping box and was in fantastic shape. He even included some orange isopods for free as a Black Friday special!
I see. I borrowed my parent's dehumidifier and I've had success with that, so I guess I'll have to invest in one. I'm going to have to put a heat source either way as my average room temp of 75F doesn't cut it for the Spiny's 80F-85F requirement.
