hes kind of hanging, hes standing sideways on a stick near the top of his enclosure. i gave him water and he shook and spread out his arms at me, i dont think he appreciated it. ill put a rag at the bottom of his enclosure so if he falls he'll have something soft to land on.

update: hes still refusing food and the twitching has gotten worse, now he shakes for seemingly no reason. i noticed today that he looks odd and his eyes are cloudy, i think hes getting ready to pass. is there anything i can do to make him comfortable in addition to not disturbing him?

thank you for the info, i cleaned his contianer today but ive otherwise left him alone. hes starting to actually smack the food away, ill give it a few days and try again

adult ghost mantis

im leaving on a trip and cant take my mantis with me. i usually feed him every 3 - 5 days, will he be okay missing a feeding or two? ive never left him for that long before. edit: i have somebody whos going to water him while im away, but hes not comfortable handling insects.

thank you for letting me know, im glad it isnt a major concern. after he got over being confused and wobbling around, he hung upside down like normal so i think all is well. i will make sure to watch the humidity extra close and offer him extra water.

i believe its female but shes so small its difficult to tell. i had no idea that they could be so picky about food. it took a week of her not eating before she went after a dubia

she wouldn't take anything not fly-shaped and my dad isn't on board with me culturing bigger flies so I was limited in what i could try to feed her. since i've made this post she's actually taken one of the tiniest dubias so i'll just tweezer feed her those until i can get some bottle flies in...

I have an i5 (i believe, shes big enough to eat a housefly) ghost mantis who I have had trouble finding food for. I'm not able to hatch house or bottle flies so i tried feeding her dubia roaches and she wont take them. The only thing ive been able to get her to eat is d. hydei but she eats 20+...

i think its from a previous molt. his heads coming out of it, but its attached to his exo in the back like hes wearing a turtleneck. i posted on the miryapods forum and they seem to think its stuck shed

no, its stuck to his body and it goes all the way around. i tried pushing it and it wouldnt move. could it just be a misformed plate? EDIT: he had it when I got him from the pet store a few days ago. i didnt notice it until I already brought him home.

sorry if this is a dumb question im new to keeping millipedes. what is this band behind my little guys head? is he just molting? it doesnt seem to bother him too much but i noticed two or three pairs of legs dont work right underneath it.

Since i've gotten him he's just sat on top of one of the sticks and munched. guess that explains it then :]
