What To Feed L5/L6 Ghost Mantis?

Springtails are too small for even L1 ghost mantids really. Blue bottles aren't sold in cultures, but you should be able to get pupae or spikes. I personally feed dubia roaches. Crickets, especially pet store crickets, can carry harmful bacteria that could kill the mantis and they also will...

    Gravid Mantis Care

I agree, roaches are better for gravid females, since they are more filling and they have more fluid, which is necessary for ooth laying.  - MantisGirl13

I think a cricket got to her while she was molting, and she couldn't escape in time. What should I do?

Looks like Ghostie answered your questions pretty well. I'm sorry for your loss! This is one of the biggest reasons why I always tell people to steer clear of crickets as feeders.  - MantisGirl13

Any other mantids lover in Canada?

The last time this person visited the forum was in 2009. I doubt you'll hear from them, sorry! I don't know if you're on Facebook, but the Mantis Keepers Facebook page has a lot more active members than the forum, from all over the world. You might find more people in your area on that page. -...

How many Oothecas does a Deroplatys desiccata lay?

Deroplatys can lay anywhere from 2-6+ ooths, depending on temps, age, places to lay, and the individual mantis. I've had ghosts lay up to 12 or 13 ooths. Ghosts usually hatch out around 30 nymphs but I'm not sure about deroplatys.  - MantisGirl13

    Shipping question?

Under 60-55 degrees usually, depending on the weather where I am and where I'm shipping to. If it's chilly where I am but warm where I'm shipping to I'll insulate the package but probably not include a heat pack so the mantis doesn't overheat when it leaves my area. - MantisGirl13

Last molt, my praying mantis got deformed back legs. It just molted and the shell is stuck. Help!

Take a wet q tip and try to get the exoskeleton off. This happens fairly frequently in young nymphs. - MantisGirl13
