    Would the ooth’s be alive?

Chinese go through a natural diapause anyway, so cold temps shouldn't affect the ooth negatively in any way.  - MantisGirl13

Recently a ton of super tiny (<1 in. in size) praying mantises started coming out of my christmas tree. I captured a bunch, and now they're dying. Hel

Mantids will only eat live prey. Meat won't sustain them. You likely hatched Tenodera sinensis, or Chinese mantids. They have a very large dieoff rate, so the majority that hatch will not survive and that is normal. Feed it every day or every other day until it molts, then give it 2 days before...

    Ghost Mantis Genetics Experiment

I have several professionals including an accomplished entomologist assisting and advising me. I will have separate groups of nymphs to test all the possible variables that have been suggested to me. Each group will have 20-40 nymphs depending on how many I can acquire.  - MantisGirl13

    Coronavirus: Thoughts?

That's no fun. I've been doing online school all year. I get to go to school in person for the first time on Monday though! Your kids are lucky that they have been able to go to school up until now. Covid sucks.  - MantisGirl13

    Mantis Keeps Dying

Were the mantids adults when you bought them? It sounds like you're doing things correctly. Are you using any chemical in or around the enclosure? How's the ventilation? What was the petstore feeding them? Did you use untreated tap water to mist them?  - MantisGirl13

When to Transition to a larger Enclosure?

Carrot fed crickets aren't good feeders, but then again, crickets aren't good feeders in the first place. Crickets can carry harmful bacteria in their gut, and that is what causes vomit and death in mantids. Carrot fed roaches and mealworms are fine. - MantisGirl13
