These cages aren't recommended because of the plastic mesh that doesn't provide enough grip. They can be modified with screen to work. Just make sure the mantis has plenty of ways to reach the lid.  - MantisGirl13

Good job saving him! Another thing you can do to save a newly drowned insect is to put them in a dish of salt. The salt will wick the moisture away. I've saved several beetles and other insects this way, although I've never tried a mantis. - MantisGirl13

Yup, your boy should molt today or tomorrow. Leave him alone and make sure he has a good place to molt.  Wing buds develop color right before the molt because it means that the wings inside are developing enough color to show through the exoskeleton. - MantisGirl13
