    First Pet mantis

I feel like pnigomantis are underappreciated. Mine tolerate an extremely wide range of moisture(I have them sitting indirectly underneath a heat lamp on my insect rack) and they're all thriving. They also get really big, are easy to handle, and will never refuse a meal unless they're in premolt.

    Should I mate my Idolomantis?

This is my main concern with larger species: I'm so paranoid that my heterochaeta or pnigomanti will fall because the thin mesh in the cloth doesn't really allow any surface for them to grip onto. I sort of have an idea where you could maybe try gluing a bunch of sticks and interlocking them or...

Ways to combat lack of appetite and vomiting?

If you got it from deShawn aka mantidkingdom, I doubt that bad feeders were the issue. As for the cause, I'm not entirely sure what happened but sometimes a nymph will get sick for what seems like no apparent reason. Also, there is always a risk with shipping during extreme weather. I remember...

    Not enough humidity?

I checked on her and her skin seems much more stressed out and I can see some white stuff in between her abdominal segments. She also consistently enters the typical molting posture but she never manages to complete the molt. I’m really getting concerned right now as this is one of the only 2...

    Son Vu @ vupetstore.com

6 doubleshields, all of which came nice and safe, although heat pack was a bit cold. Nonetheless all ate straight out of the shipping containers and I'll definitely buy from him again!

    Not enough humidity?

Update, tried feeding her today and surprisingly enough she took the roach, even though she’s quite plump. Could she have had a slipped molt? Does anyone know what a slipped molt looks like?

    Not enough humidity?

Ok I tried peeking in on her and she turned to look at me, then proceeded to just move her mouthparts. I’m not entirely sure if she’s going to molt now but it seems like maybe not, but now she’s back to the stereotypical molting posture. Will she molt or no? I find that for these guys, trying to...

    Not enough humidity?

One of my double shields is in the classic molting posture and I was excited until I realized that I had only misted her last night and it looks like most of the moisture’s gone...what do I do? The room humidity is around 51% and I’m not sure if this is enough to allow her to molt successfully...

You know you like mantids when......

@MrGhostMantisHi! Yes, I'm here and that is quite a group you've got there! I'm currently looking for more rare species like acanthops, boxer mantids, etc, but for now I'm hoping to get some pnigomantis medioconstricta. I also have a tiny little heterochaeta nymph. Also, good luck with the...

    URGENT HELP NEEDED

Fight fire with fire. Set up a fruit fly trap and feed them to any baby mantids.

    Mantis bite

If you want a constant and cheap supply of food, I would highly suggest feeder roaches, either dubias or red runners. Lots of people for some reason are turned off because f the fact that they're roaches(which I personally find a bit odd) but once you give them a try you/ll understand why so...

    Ghost laid tiny practice ooth!

I can’t exactly tell. I left the male with the female overnight and he stayed in her the whole time but when I woke up, my alarm scared the male and I think he jumped off. He was definitely on her back and tried to connect a few times but was mostly unsuccessful.

    Ghost laid tiny practice ooth!

I had to remove it since it she decided to make it in the groove between the lid of and container of the 32 oz deli cup. It had no eggs in it whatsoever.

    Chance of fertility?

I’m currently on the hunt for any spare nale ghosts, so hopefully if I find one I can ensure that she’s fertile. She’s still relatively young so I’ve got quite a bit of time left so let’s hope for the best.
