Please don't, even if you did manage to hatch them out you'd need to find a way to take care of all the babies. For the most part, hybridization is frowned upon in general.

Just use common sense and exercise caution and always remember to never ever use your bare hands. Tweezers or tongs are always a safer option.

That is a good point. However, wouldn't this make tarantulas, scorpions, and centipedes all illegal too? Also, what about various spiders, especially huntsman or orb-weaving spiders? I see this as a greater threat since they are far more likely to easily hunt down pollinators.

IS there any possible chance that any mantids could be deregulated? There's tons of species that have been here in the US way longer than one can imagine and not once have they ever posed a single threat...also, why are they regulated? Is it because they pose a threat to pollinators...

Anything that"s not overly aggressive but also anything that's not so small that they'd crush it. @Jaywo nailed it with the suggestions; although Gongylus would be a bit difficult to take care of as a first mantis species. Maybe hymenopus, pseudocreobrotra, popa spurca, brunneria borealis, or...

Sort of unrelated but how did you breed the adults? What type of setup did you use and how many adults did you have?
