    BugsInCyberspace.com - Peter Clausen

With local fruit flies being non-existent, a nearby shipper a bust with them previously, I checked in with Peter like I should have from the start. Even though they were listed as out of stock on his website he had some. While he is on the other side of the US from me in the middle of winter...

CareSheet: Black Soldier Fly and Phoenix Worms

@Teamonger I've linked to your articles when others ask about this feeder, as it really is a great resource, but I'm surprised I never responded here. It really should be stickied for others can find easily, so I can at least fix that too. ;) It is pinned in the Food and Feeding section now...

    Can these species hybridize?

@hcarlton Thanks for clarifying, and I removed the offending sentence. I am glad to hear the topic much better defined. Like most on MF I'm just hobbyist, and conflicting information can be rampant online. ;) As you personally see no problems with properly labelled hybrids, have you tried or...

    Roaches

From the two you mentioned I've kept Creobroter pictipennis (L2 to adult) and it did fine on crickets; although, it seemed to prefer flies when available it wasn't a deal breaker. They are said to however be a candidate that can eat Hydei FF their whole life as they are so small, caresheet here...

Nah not bad at all. It is funny how 30 is a big ordeal for many, but is rather quick to pass too. :) Good point, and a interesting concept of age related to a species life cycle (metabolism/speed/phase/whatever is the wording I can't find at the moment). Like a tree moving compared to a human...

@Little Mantis Very nice, I imagine she'll love it too. :D

    Roaches

Well thanks, but that is just a small part of it. The shelving unit has three tanks total (different instar sizes being eggs/pinheads, medium, and adults laying eggs (at least typically)) but are setup nearly the same - however getting a clear photo of them all in one is about impossible due to...

Thanks, it does make for a rather interesting memory of pet long past too. :) Might as well, and depending on your monitor background (or video) you could make about anything. :D

    Ghann's cricket farm

I got a order of 1500 crickets last week and even with the 26F low overnight temperature here I had less than a 10% die-off rate from my Ghann's order. It was well worth it as my recent cricket purchase from a local pet store resulted in 100% die-off, and was informed the pet store's stock was...

    Urgent! Stickbug hatched in winter!

Likely the best option, and hopefully your have more hatch when it warms up and you have more plants to feed from.

Nice, glad to see your girl is wanting to play too. :D Mantids do seem to like climbing a screen, likely to get up higher or the very slight warmth a LCD makes. After one of my mantids did that I used it to make a cheezy video. ;)

If you makes either of you feel better my niece and three nephews think I'm an old man. ;) When they come over they want to look at my "bugs" and play arcade games. Seems "old age" is relative for sure, as I know when I was younger when my mom turned 30 that was a big deal for her. I'm nearly...

    Roaches

@DefyTheNorms Okay, well I went and got some new photos to show a cricket setup better - and to avoid things that I had to say not to use. ;) Here is one of the three tubs of my cricket breeding tanks. The tank itself is a Sterilite 56 quart storage tub available from many retailers, I get...

    Roaches

@DefyTheNorms Yes, a taller wall container is needed. Personally I use the $5 Sterilite 56 quart containers modified for crickets. If you have like a ready made option the large Kricket Keeper and such exist (but I'm not a fan). To capture crickets the easiest method is to use empty cardboard...

There is plenty of that everywhere. ;) You are a few years older on the tattoo or in age? I'll turn 39 this year, and got mine when a month after turning 18. Nice seems you expand beyond knickknacks too. I figure I have to get at least one more tattoo, something related to my pets and life...

    First Adult

@DefyTheNorms Yes a 1 - 1.5" species is tiny, but nice to see. Just makes me miss my smaller mantid species more though. ;)
