    Dragon Mantis article

Interesting article and glad to see a recent expedition, and finding the rare Dragon (Stenophylla cornigera) had to be awesome. :D I'm curious if they did find any new suspected uncatalogued mantid species, but didn't see any details either way (or other species known for that matter). A look...

    RiP cherry blossom.

I'm sorry Jessie. Take comfort on knowing you both enjoyed your time together. Finding a great one is a search, but I remember all my mantids fondly. :)

I made a vertical mantis enclosure out of a kritter keeper, well I tried anyways.

@jojolobro Interesting idea and works on many aspects too. Seems like the bottle caps are the perfect height for the lid overhang. :D The faux top was a good choice as that plastic is so brittle it cracks easily, and only a Dremel cut-off wheel would offer the best shot of not destroying it...

    new mantis advice

@danl82 Nice to hear they arrived safely, and so quickly too. I bet you can't wait to get off work to properly rehouse them, hopefully it goes by quick today for you. :D

    ootheca question

All native and naturalized mantid species are 100% legal to own, sell/trade, etc in the US; however, any posts that deal with anything illegal is removed from this forum, we are a family-friendly site and do not promote breaking any laws. ;) You should not mist any ooth itself as it only...

    My ghost mantises arrived!!

Congrats and great to see they arrived safely, and you happily let them explore. :D It seems when mantids are young they are nearly fearless, and love to be out of their habitats (most will run out at feeding time too). Many Ghost nymphs I've had would roam around until they fell off clumsily...

    New Setup

Best of luck sticking to one shelf. :D I don't blame you, it seems most who keep "communal" species housed together have a instance of cannibalism sooner or later. Although depending on your budget and husbandry skill besides the typically Ghosts (Phyllocrania paradoxa), a couple great...

    new mantis advice

@danl82 My Pygmy's (Miomantis paykullii) at that size were eating small crickets or house flies, and at L5 most were comfortable with tackling the larger bottle flies (even if they were huge compared to the nymphs). :D See my post here for some photos of my Pygmy L5 nymph, the last photo is...

    Hi

@danl82 Some great species with unique characteristics, and plenty of size too. I really enjoy my "giant" mantids, but the smaller species seem to draw me more. If I had to guess why I seem to prefer smaller species I would have to say it is because of the small habitat space and ability to...

    Hello!

Hello and welcome to the forum At L3 Ghosts (Phyllocrania paradoxa) are ready for houseflies, see caresheet here. So at the L2-L3 instars the smaller false stable flies are a better option, and can be purchased from Mantisplace. The larger fruit fly species Hydei are often fed until mantids...

    New Setup

@DefyTheNorms Looks like your about to fill that shelving unit already. :D I currently have four myself, two large units for pets and two smaller ones for feeders. One is exclusively for fruit flies, and I keep it as far away as I can from anything else in case of mites. For lighting I use...

Is USAMANTIS good to buy from?

Exo is in Europe for sure, if it is Germany though I am not certain (as some feedback say it was shipped from Poland). Any US member related feedback was left before the strict policy was enforced. I did look over the feedback page and found a few that were not US members waiting to be approved...

    Femme Fatale

Awesome! I always love it when they are looking at the camera, and a "peeking" shot is even better. :D

Is USAMANTIS good to buy from?

This discussion post is about USMantis.com (aka Craig Baker) so I assume you are referring to buying mantids from there. As US members buying mantids from overseas is highly illegal, and is not allowed on this forum and will be removed. From the breeder feedback rules, "US Import of livestock...
