My understanding is yes the males are shorter lived than females. Someone else may know the time better but I remember something like 2-3 months versus 6-9 months for females.  You did not mention how old your male is.

Actually , if you take a good look at the design and coloring, really does the job. Think how this would look with raised adult wings.

Sounds like either the habitat is not very interesting or maybe too small habitat for new size. I have Not raised them but aren't they predatory mantis rather than ambush. Wouldn't a larger mantis like this want a bigger area to hunt and explore? Just my still noobie thoughts.

No that will not work on a long time basis. This forum has been active since before 2005 to the best of my knowledge. The question of FFs has been covered many times. Raised FF for many years for rare tropical fish, so not use fruit, please.
