    Hi

Heyas and welcome. The ghosts should be able to handle house flies at that stage. The question about the forum approval. This is a great forum! I an glad it is somewhat tight to get on. We do not get bothered with a lot of here. I for one hate to see forums full of stuff that does not belong...

    One nymph.... or five?

All good points to think about before getting lost in the hobby. Keeping mantis is great. Being over whelmed with too many becomes a dreary obligation keeping up with just feeding and cleaning. Staying at a level where you enjoy them and can keep them flourishing, that is the sweet spot, in my...

@Digger Have no fear. I took the comment the way you meant it.     I also believe in the freezer method.  Thanks for the comment on Sabaca. I am okay with what is. She took care of me for 12 of her 13 yrs. Now it is my privilege to care for her needs. She directly saved my life 2 times...

Aye. Now if we can get a mantikini for her and some kind of sun hat you and her are "golden".

    Mantis at the Beach

Well she does need a "golden tan" all over to be true California beach mantis!

    One nymph.... or five?

Don't let them get to you like chips. I think Thrillhouse has a sensible idea. Too many to care for becomes hard duty instead of enjoyment. I think most of us go thru the more is better stage.

Wow My service dog is a Poodle. Matter of fact almost all of my dogs have been poodles. Sabaca is 13 and has several forms of cancer including lip and jaw. I have been wrestling with the decision of when to end. I have kidded many times if she were human we would have been married. The vet will...

I understand fungus and bacteria can be a problem for orchids. Good ventilation is important for them. Like the idea you have though.

Too cool. You do realize that if you keep "taking her to the beach" she will get used to it? Will she become a California mantis beach variety?

    Devil dies without flies?

@Derpderpderp The above forum site -Idolomantis considered- if a fantastic read. When looking to see what mantis I wanted to start with I read the whole thread. Awesome knowledge and not just on this one species. That thread showed me I did not have the experience  or equipment to try these.

Are diseased crickets killing my Mantids?

Feeding crix a healthy diet to clean out their guts for a few days is the best way to use store bought. Read up on how to keep them alive. The smaller ones have different needs than the larger. Just like us, they need a healthy and varied diet to flourish. No one food source can possibly supply...

    Made it to l3!

@Mantidkid No problem. It is a new learning experience, enjoy! Lol and you will do some "dumb stuff" now and then. We all go thru it.

    Made it to l3!

Moving the habitat is fine as long as not into direct sunlight.     Don't ask how I know.   Offer the food. If not eaten no problem. My point really was do not get upset if the mantis does not eat for a while after molting.
