I just checked and you are correct. Imho, orchids look much better on leaves like this  than competing with a flower in bloom. Read a study where the mantis stayed near but not on flowers and the prey insects were drawn away from the flower to the mantis. Nature at it's best.

If I had that species I would be biased also!      Great Pic!  Gotta love the colors of the leaf they are on. Is the leaf from some begonia plant? Looks familiar.

My first question would be what type of mantis are you getting? If larger size you will not need FFs for long before it will need larger pray to eat. Also how many do you plan on keeping at a time? Many smaller mantis, more need for FFs. They really are easy to breed and maintain for feeders...

Like new babies, hard to believe they start that small. Gotta love Ghosts!

When I have more than I can use right away, I keep them in dorm frig with few hours warm up each day. With food and water they can stay alive for 2 weeks or so. I did find it better to hatch all within 2 weeks or so of arrival. After 3 weeks for me very few hatched. So yeah  what crabbypatty...
