    Leptomentella care?

It's a species from around South East Asia. The newly hatched is very small and feed mainly only insects smaller than fruit fly, but are aggressive and chase down food. Light misting daily and not too hot (stay below 85F), like to hide in the underside of a leaf. Molting was the problem for me...

    Need an ID here

It could be Y. solitarium based on shorter pronotum and less pointy eyes, and that's an adult female ready to deposit some oothecae.

How to search & find mantids and ooths (Pictorial guide)

Sorry i missed out your reply. No special techniques really. But knowing where is the mantis 'preferred' spot helps, which is very much depending on the species, adult female P. chlorophaea for example, almost always been found close to the top of plants.

    Litaneutria minor

It's not a male. You should see budwing for subadult male. This is likely a subadult female, they will get a short pair of wings as adult.

    Can anyone ID this mantid?

    Likely Amorphoscelis sp.

    honey pot ants

Did you find honey pot ants at your location in MT? As far as i know honeypot ants only exist in southwestern US arid area. Only mantis that live in the same habitat would take down ants, as i have seen ground mantis feeding on ants (honeypot and Acromyrmex sp.) in Arizona.

    Litaneutria minor

Nice spot! I haven't seen any adult female ground mantis above 2 feet above ground but they will climb any height to look for food. Adult male has been found at any elevation even to the building top when attracted by lights.

How to search & find mantids and ooths (Pictorial guide)

Thanks for the wonderful post. I enjoy reading it through! That double species at ivy tree is pretty cool. Looks like you live in mantis heaven :)   Luck and a pair of keen eyes play an important role in spotting mantis, but I think the chance of finding one increases with experience too...
