let's start a thread of mundane occurrences!

I usually order from Ghann's! they're the best! But wolven pointed out that if you don't have 2954828 critters to feed, buying smaller quantities of bandeds from say Rainbow Mealworms is the better way to go

Hello from California! Need some help…

I use a number of species. When these species explode again I'll sell you starters for cheap ($10 or so) I recommend Nauphoeta cinerea, Panchlora sp., Oxyhaloa duesta, and Compsodes schwarzi. Be aware that C. schwarzi is a TINY roach and so not the best for your larger species Keeping a colony...

Hello from California! Need some help…

sounds like habituation to me I use rainbow mealworms for bottleflies, then Rebecca and Spider Pharm for houseflies. Be aware that the rainbow mealworms blue bottles are Calliphora vomitoria, which take about 12 days to metamorphosize, unlike Rebecca's Protophormia terraenovae which take maybe...

Hello from California! Need some help…

hello! Back in Rhode Island, I helped to mass-rear S. limbata. Not too bad except for cannibalism around i4 before we split them up. They are quite variable, both in the potential number of instars they can have and the colors! it happens! though I much prefer to rear leps, it's easier to do...

Hi I’m from North Carolina and have questions about mantises

way too big IMO. maybe if you had Macromantis or Hierodula but there's also Odontomantis, who despite being diminutive need a LOT of space or they stress out and die! I have mating pairs of these cuties right now!

what I can tell you is this forum is far less active than it was 10 years ago, partially because of all of the facebook/discord groups dedicated to mantises nowadays

    TheWolven (US)

Wolven sent me a fresh adult male Hymenopus coronatus to breed to one of my females. He arrived alive and there were a few silly little trinkets in the box as well. The only criticism I'd give is that the box was a little small given there was a heat pack included, but it didn't kill him so it...
