    Hello from Texas!

Hi Annie, welcome!  I just raised my first ghosts to adult and they are a really cool and easy species.  My tip...take lots of pictures of them!  You could even look into a cheap clip-on macro lens for smartphones to take closeup pictures.  It's awesome to see their faces up close like that.

    Hi

Welcome to the forum!  I joined the hobby a year ago and found this forum very helpful.  There's tons of reading you can do, and of course feel free to ask questions if you can't find the answer! :)

    Total ghost mantis newbie

Great!  I started with Chinese and got ghosts as my second species and they are definitely different.  Amazing to look at though. :)

    Total ghost mantis newbie

How's your little nymph doing? I raised my ghosts at room temperature and they did fine, but a little warmer wouldn't hurt, so 73-74 should be good.  As mentioned, they are more docile than Chinese mantids and choose the sit and wait approach to hunting.  So as long as the enclosure isn't too...

My Hardest yet Best Challenge Yet

Congrats on the new nymphs and good luck with them!  It's great to hear how you started out and how many species you have tried since then.

    Pet store feeder woes

@Bathory @CosbyArt Yeah, I guess it is possible she is just becoming picky in her old age haha.  It just seemed unlikely since I was under the impression that Chinese mantids are pretty voracious and unpicky eaters, and she did accept crickets at one point.  But I don't need to feed her...

    MantisKingdom/DeShawn

I ordered two Rhombodera basalis nymphs last week and shortly after emailed him because I was concerned about the cold weather we were having here for the whole week.  He agreed that it would be best to wait a week to ship, and he waited for the warmest day the following week, and also included...

    Pet store feeder woes

I think I know what you mean about their back legs being held up, and I have also seen that in my crickets.  No idea on the implications though...I have very little experience with crickets.  I do have unexplained die offs in each newly bought batch though within the first few days. I've also...

Welcome!  What species do you hope to breed?

Fore leg injury / climbing problems

If it is just the forearms that can't grip, if you can get the nymph hanging upside down from the other four legs, that might even be enough I would think.  They only hang from the back four legs when molting so the difficulty would be in getting to that upside down position and maybe also the...

Awesome pictures.  The male looks great and the nymph is indeed super cute.  Looks so inquisitive.

What do I do if my pupae aren't hatching?

Yeah, I order pupae through the winter and I don't have issues with shipping them in the cold, but I do have issues with how expensive it is to ship a couple dollars worth of pupae!  But unfortunately it's my best option.  I only have a few mantids so I don't buy bulk feeders or anything, so the...
