Anyone know how to get rid of eye rub on a mantis?

I am not sure how thier vision is affected exactly, but I do have an adult male that has it, and he seems to have no problem hunting or getting around his enclosure.

Anyone know how to get rid of eye rub on a mantis?

DId it get any better after the molt at least? I know that I had some with eye rub, and it took a few molts to fully go away, but did improve a bit with each molt.

    Heterochaeta aren't eating

My experience with heterochaeta is that they don't like it terribly humid. I keep them in mesh cages and mist once a day. They are otherwise kept in a room with a humidifier going, but they get plenty of ventilation with the mesh cages. I had kept a few younger ones in a mason jar with a mesh...

bad molts- what did I do wrong?

We sell these mini round mesh cages that could be good for small violin nymphs! I have always just kept mine in groups in the 12X12X12 mesh cubes though, even when they are 1st and 2nd instar, and never had any problems. Deli cups are not ideal enclosures for violins for several reasons though.

bad molts- what did I do wrong?

Yes, I would bet that is the problem! Mantises have trouble gripping that plastic material, and should be hanging upside down when molting, not from the side. Molting off of the side does not work for them, and results in molting issues. A temporary solution could be to just hot glue a piece of...

bad molts- what did I do wrong?

I am sorry for your bad luck. :(   Well, it sounds like the humidifier was keeping the humidity fine for the C. Gemmatus. Also,  whether the mantis had eatten or not shouldn't really have any bearing on whether the mold was successful or not. What kind of lids do the deli cups have?
