    devil flower mantis cannibalism

    I had a pair of two devil flower mantids (idolomantis) and one decided one night to go for the other I kept them well fed but I suspect that the heat was to low at 23c? One was l3 and one was l4 but they both started at l3? Any ideas?

    yes it is quite possible. I have had issues with crickets in the past. normally they vomit or lose balance. This is especially true for flower species like yours.  It is much better to feed flies or roaches to flower species. Happy to help.

    I am very sad to hear that.😟 What did you feed him? This may have been a contributing food  if it was something like crickets.

    like Mr. ghost mantis said it just means that they just want to molt. I had a sub male do this. Its completely normal.

    Question about how to store feeder house flies

    Just put them in the fridge and take out as needed. It will just make them dormant for a while. l Have also has GB flies last for weeks this way. When you want to feed them just wake them up and drip some liquid honey inside the container.

    just use a well ventilated 32oz deli cup. although they do require a relative humid environment don't overdo it or you could cause mold or stuffy air. paper towels at the bottom to help cushion any falls and help with humidity.     Idolomantis Consolidated

    really cool care sheet. this species is incredible but so fragile. I unfortunately lost mine today. she miss molted although I gave her high heat and lots of proper gripping sticks to molt off. she must of fallen but I have no idea why.
