I'm looking for some later instar mantises (L5+ preferred). I'm interested mainly in spiny flower mantises and shield mantises. May also be interested in indian flower and giant species.  I'm located in northern California, pm me if you have anything you think I might be interested in!

I feed based on how fat their abdomen looks. :)  If they're not looking too fat, I give them as much as they will eat. 

Mine molted about a week after I got it, I think. 

Had a bad experience with usmantis. Wouldnt recommend them, pm if you want details.

thank you, me too! it could have possibly gone wrong, they were hanging out of their molt and the fake flower they were molting from wasn't close enough for them to grab back onto. luckily i was home, and i made the decision to put my finger under them so they could finish without falling, and...

Mothra molted!

Gamera molted to L5 a while ago, and is finally big enough for me to try and ***. But I'm not sure/just can't tell! Crossing my fingers they are female and think they might be, what do you think?

Thank you guys! Luckily the petco right by me had decent sized fruit fly cultures. Wish I knew before I ordered more a few days ago haha.

So I'm not going to have any fruit flies for a few days while the ones I have pupate, and the others I've ordered come in. What can I feed my nymphs until then? I've heard of people feeding banana, will that suffice?  I want to stay away from pinhead crickets, due to all the problems I've heard...

After the passing of my venosa, I purchased a hierodula majuscula nymph from Peter. Used priority shipping, and the mantis arrived fine and healthy! 

New giant rainforest mantis (hierodula majuscula) from bugsincyberspace! He's so tiny, I forgot how little my giant shield was when I first got him. This one is named Gigan!

Understandable! I was dead set on an orchid when I first started a couple months ago, and am finally in the process of buying one from someone here on the forums! The price for the spiny flower you found might be worth it if you're impatient.  Good luck finding your spiny flower! :)

It being worth it depends on the person I think. You might not be able to find others for sale for quite a while, you never know.  Are you dead set on a spiny flower? Bugsincyberspace currently has giant rainforest mantis nymphs for sale for $14, and their site says they will have Indian flower...
