    Leopard Moth

They were a neat experience with beautiful end results. I didn't originally realize what type of moth the caterpillar grew into until the other week. This is the first time to ever see these moths as adult. I have seen the caterpillars for years even as a kid yet this is the first time to see...

    Leopard Moth

These were eating clover next to my porch until the roundup incident. Once inside I feed them romaine lettuce in which they eat a full leaf a night between two of them. I just filled the bottom of tall container with long strand moss with a stick leaned up to the top. They excavated out a chamber...

    Leopard Moth

I caught two of these as caterpillars and have been raising them. one emerged from cocoon last week and the other is still in cocoon stage. I wasn't expecting them to emerge this quick I guess maybe I was supposed to put them in cooler temperatures so they would emerge in warmer spring? I know...

My first tarantula a Curlyhair (Brachypelma albopilosum) HF

Just now catching back up I haven't  raised this species from slings so I cant say for sure if this is or isn't a B. albopilosum hard to tell until it develops more of the adult appearance it may be awhile before you will know for sure. Looks very healthy and I  agree looks like you will have a...

    Are phids okay to ship

USPS doesn't ship spiders. It has little to do with  being dangerous they don't ship because they are venomous. Very unfair that they don't take into account venom potency. There rules on spiders are very one sided and biased more on fear of spiders than any evidence of them being dangerous...

My first tarantula a Curlyhair (Brachypelma albopilosum) HF

The author of the book used to pop in on the arachnoboards. I read some of the book through the library but had to turn it in.The book is very well detailed. I think he is working on a new book $6.00 is a good deal. I don't remember posting anything about Geckos last year but I sometimes don't...

My first tarantula a Curlyhair (Brachypelma albopilosum) HF

They pretty much stay in their burrows most of the time until they get bigger at some point it will block the entrance to molt this is the frustrating part wondering if its alright. This is why most people end up getting more tarantulas so we always have something to look at all the time...

Branched out into Wolf Spiders (Lycosidae)

Roaches are on the banned list here too. A few months ago I was finding green roaches I believe to be banana roaches in the house and was accused of breaking the bug ban.I just don't understand the fear of roaches. But I have found no one goes into the spider closet so there is hope of sneaking...

and keep just a few total. yea that is the way it always starts next thing you know everyone is complaining and they take away your catch cups. LOL I started with a couple local trapdoor spiders  total in 2009 which which led to a couple local tarantulas that exploded to over 500 spider lings I...

Large Walking Stick found on front porch

I had a small one I had caught a few weeks before  also found on front porch. Maybe they are attracted to the porch light at night and just hang out there during the day I don't know but it is neat to see them. Rick glad to share its really cool to share bugs with others that don't treat you...

    Honey for Mantis

what you want is unfiltered honey  with the hive included in the jar. The act of filtering removes the benefits of the honey. Also some honey producers add corn syrup. Some store honey is labeled unfiltered also but would trust it more if I could see pieces of the hive. Just depends what is...
