    Eremiaphila

Good day folks, I got myself an Eremiaphila ootheca. Any tips on raising these guys? It seems the ootheca is supposed to be underground except for the tip of the spout and I hear they like it hot and dry, with a mist in the morning to simulate dew.  Im planning on hatching them in a seed tray...

What can I feed to a stick insect with limited options?

I used to keep a few kinds and what was easiest for me was rose leaves, Im not sure if they are as commom in Iceland as here, but for me roses are easy to find all year long especially dwarf varieties. Good luck

yen_saw okay, thanks. PrayingMantisPets, I dont have a ruler but I added a pic to my first post in this thread, showing other oothecae to compare it with, and I have this to give you better idea.

    Ooth ID

Yup, agreed. Asked about that in another post. He insists they are accurately identified and good..  Would you be asking for your money back or wait n see just incase?

    Ooth ID

Hey PrayingMantisPets, yes thats what they were labled. The seller also had Gongylous and Phyllocrania listed so I thought perhaps he mixed them up. All Hymenopus ootheca I've seen are long and skinny but this ootheca is short n wide.. I told him it doesnt look right to me and was told,"It was...

    Ooth ID

So I got an ootheca last week from some guy that appears to be misslabled. A second ooth has arrived and I would like to know if this one looks right to you. It came labled as lobata. It looks like pictures of Gongylous oothecae to me. And just incase anyone has some thoughts on this one...

Breeding aphids to replace fruit flies

Hey Teamonger, I've 'raised' some different kinds but just from the garden. Darts love em. They breed pretty quickly and dont smell so they are pretty handy. I didn't  find much online about culturing any type except in reports of breeding one species on several week old bean seedlings or...

    Shipping oothecae in winter

Oh, I should add that I have Phylocrania and Otomantis coming this week. I'm trying to acquire Hymenopus aswell, but since we already have subzero temperatures out here, I may just wait for spring. Even with express, transit can be around 10 days so regular heatpacks may not be enough. The...

    Beginner setup, please evaluate :)

Hey Bdawd, welcome. I have two female Miomantis who have laid a couple ootheca(august), but they didn't hatch so far. Meanwhile some mated ones I just bought hatched already (in about a month)

    Hymenopus ootheca

Well this is interesting. I wonder what he sent me...
  17. Aristalochia

    Hymenopus ootheca

The big fat one is an old Idolomantis and the small one is a Miomantis. As you can see they are not as dark. This new ootheca looks odd to me, but I'm still pretty new to this so I can't be sure. Let me know what you think. Thanks

    Hymenopus ootheca

So I was have found myself an orchids mantis ootheca. The fellow who sent it to said "Its been stored for a couple weeks under 'certain conditions' and that I should treat it like normal and it should hatch in 70 or so days." I asked about these certain conditions but didn't get a reply. So I'm...
