They are quite entertaining little guys. They are very quiet and make cute purring sounds, but they like to jump real high sometimes and they start bouncing around like popcorn :)

Sounds like you've had as bad luck as I have had. I hope your orchid turns up somewhere, but I have found entire scorpions go missing after leaving a few mealworms in with its container... Good luck with you new deadleaf and happy holidays:)

If they are too fast, you can refrigerate them for a few mins and theyll get real slow. Or what I do is just tap them down before opening. Then tap some into a feeding container. I use deli cups, same as the fruit flies come in, and when the container is new mine cant climb it, but after a while...

Even faster if you are a mantis.

If you can fresh fruit, leaving it in a bag or closed container will usually get you enough to begin, You might only get a few flies though so it might take a 2nd generation before you have enough for many hungry nymphs. Also its not a bad idea to try culturing fruitflies before you need them...

Yeah could be getting ready to molt. When some of them layed flat, at first I thought they needed water or something but they didnt seem interested. They still do it sometimes but are all fine, so maybe they would press up agaisnt a tree or a flat  to blend in more.. I dunno heh

Cool thats a nice start so far. You have so many more kinds too. I wonder where the adults are hiding. Do you actively go looking for them or just spot em while you are working?

I havent noticed that with binotata or paykulli but these caffra, they all do that. I havent had the others do the stretched out thing so much.

Hey marko999999, Sorry to hear about that. Is there a reason you cant raise regular flying fruitflies yourself? Even if no one sells them near you, its easy to solve by making home made cultures once in a while. Almost all fruit will produce some fruitflies for you to culture if you cant get...
