How long do female Mantids stay pregnant?

Unless there's some exception I'm not aware of, all mantids are impregnated for life. I have heard of people re-mating after 5-6 ooths but only as a precaution.

    Throwing Up?

Well I wish there was something more concrete one way or the other, but you are *absolutely* right that there is plenty of other food to go with so if in doubt there's no reason to use carrots. Maybe something they spray on carrots in your area? It just now occurred to me they might be "funk...

    Throwing Up?

Digger why do you hate carrots so much? As has been discussed in other threads, a lot of breeders here agree carrots are safe, and I've even cited the historical cases where carrots were erroneously blamed for "the black death". I'm curious why your mantids have problems with carrots while...

Ooth shape and fertility and parthogenesis

I certainly wouldn't bet on it being an actual legitimate case. I think the odds of a rogue male living in your attic and sneaking in for some night nookie through the air ducts would be higher - and that's not to say either is probable at all :P

    Throwing Up?

Yes always give store bought crickets at least a couple days eating nutritious food before serving them up. A week or more if you can make it that long. My Rhombodera female fancied throwing up for a while but never acted strange otherwise and kept eating and drinking... she would smear it...

What do you do if u get 100 babies from an ooth

Inevitably some will die off, but you can control that to an extent. Many people just accept that nature is a for those first weeks and let everyone live communally until L3-L5 (varies with species). Others will separate them early on. Honestly though unless you are dealing with really...

    Mealworms

If you keep them in a bed of oats I wouldn't, it molds the oats (too much surface moisture). If it's more dirt or non foodstuffs for bedding then go for it

    different mates..

This is true but I don't know if their children would be viable (as in able to reproduce themselves) - I'll try to give the short version, so if you need sources or more info please just ask. Speciation is when one species splits in to two species that can no longer interbreed, but this...

    Mealworms

Mealworms pupate for a few weeks in mid-high 70's temperatures. I imagine colder temps would be slower of course. My natives are the only ones I've tried to feed darkling beetles to, but they snatched them right up. There is a lot less shell to deal with if you give them a larvae or pupae but...

How to get mantis back in the terrarium?

Smaller dowels (around 3/8", or approximately pencil sized) are great. I wouldn't use a pencil because of the slick topcoat they have, but hardware store dowels or even Popsicle sticks work well. They will climb right on them, and if you have trouble putting her back when you are done, just...
