    male Stagmomantis limbata it looks like prolapse. It's also the end of September, and males of this species live 2 months tops they probably mature in August

    I find that if you keep these guys warm (like, low 90s F) for a week or 2 before introducing them, they are more willing to mate. Feed the female as the male mounts her to keep him safe

    I disagree. There are plenty of reptiles that live in the same ecosystems as various mantises, but then again, microclimates!!
