    Guys I'm rearing bottleflies indoors!

That’s gross but cool lol. Wonder if ground up beans would work too? Probably would stink just as much though if not used in the proper amount.

let's start a thread of mundane occurrences!

I got to do animal care at our Conservation center yesterday. The boss lady said a worker needed to help since I only had a few days of training (it's not hard though). It's just she did all the feeding and I mostly did just the cleaning. >: ( She did all the fun stuff.

    Leaving the hobby

Wheeze Well, considering they said they're rearing leps, it would sound like Alex is raising lepers. That would be an interesting hobby.

Take your time lol. We won't die. Just don't want 2,000 years.

    Guys I'm rearing bottleflies indoors!

I grew up with Spongebob, so things like this immediately come to mind lol. I can't remember what bottleflies Forked Tree Ranch sells, but they're in a different genus lol. The blue bottlefly that people usually purchase for their mantises is Calliphora vomitoria. These guys are much bigger...

    Male H. majuscula wanted

Hi! I have an adult female H. majuscula and would love to work out an arrangement with anyone who may have a mature male.

Mantis dying 😞 Question about Injury….

Sorry dude. There's nothing you could have done.

Mantis dying 😞 Question about Injury….

I'm not sure. Why have you not euthanized him yet? There's nothing you can for a mantis when they have a prolapse sadly.

Mantis dying 😞 Question about Injury….

Yeah, that's a male. I think he's a Carolina mantis too. His rear end might have gotten ripped during mating, or someone thought he'd make a good snack. Either way there's nothing you can to do help him other than euthanize him I'm afraid. The freezer is what we use to put our mantises to sleep...

Was this something I should have expected?

Yeahhh Kong probably got munched by Kevin. Sometimes mantises will decide they're not hungry/are spooked by the food and then a few hours later will inhale anything in front of them. Very few species of mantis can be kept communally with little to no causalities. I would not put Ghosts on that...

How do you remove the adults to feed them off? Also is your crestie food just in powder form or do you add water?

    Hello!!

Welcome! We're a forum that primarily caters to mantises, but I believe there's a few millipede keepers on here.

    Just a nymph

Do you live in a house/apartment with a thermostat? There's your climate control for a starter mantis. Honestly, if you're getting a smaller mantis, you just need a 32 oz deli cup and a fabric lid. Unless you're wanting a terriarium, save yourself the money. There are some advanced species that...

They did not have a good relationship with their mother. It’s not really a loss for them judging from their laughing emoji.

    Hi all

Please do not purchase from USmantis. They are a known scammer and have a bad reputation in the hobby for a reason. TheMantisPlace has their own containers to hatch out pupae as far as I know. She does sell a different bottlefly that is smaller than what a lot of people buy. I don't know about...
