    Molting Concerns with Spiny Flower

Well that’s good to hear! I figured she was still a bit thick in the abdomen for a male, so I was confused lol Now, if only I can find her a male in time!

    Molting Concerns with Spiny Flower

So we're well beyond health concerns at this point, but I figured I'd keep it all in the same thread. After that monstrous 54-day wait between pre-sub and sub-adult, Whiskey wasted no time and just did her adult molt at 29 days! Those wings look a bit long to me for a female, but we've...

WTB Adult Female Ghost & Adult Male Giant Shield

I still haven't found a mate for my female giant shield (R. megaera). She's been an adult for a couple months but hasn't laid any ooth yet, so I'd like to find a male soon. I also have a lone male ghost who I'm interested in trying to mate. Also looking for a subadult male spiny flower, though...

    Yen Saw - (US)

Thanks Yen! I just got 3 D. desiccata nymphs for an amazing price, and they came fast, packed perfectly, and there was a flower mantis included for free. Yen was very cooperative with working around my preferred shipping dates for weather, and was pleasant from start to finish. Highly recommended.

    Loss of back leg function

I’m going to have to legally change my name...

    Loss of back leg function

Yes, he's climbing and walking normally now. I'm not sure why he was dangling those legs that way for so long after molting, unless it was solely to reinforce the understanding that I know nothing. lol

    Loss of back leg function

Ha! Got him this time. Flight might be a strong word... he's more or less just bailing away from me and fluttering to the nearest surface.

    Loss of back leg function

I actually stand correct. While he was hanging very similarly to my injured dead leaf (head against lid, raptorials and front walking legs hooked to lid, abdomen and rear legs dangling), he's fully on his lid now. His wings are gorgeous, but holy **** has he become sketchy. He's already taken...

    Loss of back leg function

Is this a fairly common issue during the molt to adulthood? My malaysian dead leaf fell and lost pretty much any meaningful grip her back legs (and extremely limited use of her front), but I thought that was largely because she remained in a bad position at the bottom of the cup while she...

    Molting Concerns with Spiny Flower

How in the world can you tell?! 😂 I genuinely cannot see segments to count them due to coloration.

    Molting Concerns with Spiny Flower

It's really hard to get a picture that's in focus, especially since me house is fairly dim, so the camera always wants to brighten everything up, which makes him/her just a white smudge. This was about the best I can do, from the side. I personally can't see the segments here, myself.

    Molting Concerns with Spiny Flower

Whiskey finally molted at 54 days! I just happened to be doing some programming and caught him/her wiggling out of the corner of my eye! https://imgur.com/gallery/XYeCX8O

Day 50, still no molt. Acting normal and still eating, at least.

    ISO Rhombodera megaera adult male

I have a happy/healthy adult R megaera female that I wasn't really planning on breeding, but she's just so dang pretty. She's been an adult for just about a month. If anyone is interested, I'd love to set up some kind of ooth trade (I only want a few nymphs, I don't really need to keep any...

    Molting Concerns with Spiny Flower

Shared experiences are always helpful, even if they're not always pleasant. I don't mind one bit!

    Molting Concerns with Spiny Flower

My SFM, Whiskey, hasn’t molted in 45 days. He/she (I can’t tell) is L6 right now, and acting completely normally, but I’m wondering about the fact that his/her abdomen ALWAYS seems plump. Like post-feeding or pre-molt plump. It never seems to flatten out. She’s in a room that’s about 78-80f to...

    Sick Malaysian Dead Leaf

Luckily, I finally had a pinning attempt that didn’t turn out like total (I think, I really struggle with wings), so Maple will get to go into her own little shadow box eventually.

    Sick Malaysian Dead Leaf

Seriously, I feel less sad now that it's done than I have since the molt. It definitely sucks to lose my favorite mantis, though.

    Sick Malaysian Dead Leaf

I had to put her in the freezer this morning. This was the fourth time I'd found her on the floor of her container, only she wasn't even flailing this time, she was just pretty much limp, barely even moving when I picked her up. I'm not thrilled but I'm also not going to prolong suffering...
