    Longest Lifespan

I have two female ghosts that hatched August of '19 that are still around. I also have three female spinies that hatched last February that are still around too. None of them are fertile, so I'm wondering if that has anything to do with it? They're also kept in temps from 60-70 degrees, and are...

    Share your instagram page

@mountainmantis I've stopped posting pics here because of the limited upload allocation. I would love to share more of my pics here, but with the high-res pics I take I could upload maybe a handful before I capped my uploads.  I try to add new photos at least once a week. Species so far are...

    Breeding tragedy

My female orchid was a man eater--she ate two males and almost ate a third. I was able to save the third by spraying the female with water. She literally had his body in her raptorial and I was quick enough to douse her with my spray bottle and he was able to escape. I don't typically hose down...

    Something AMAZING has happened...

@Precarious Just chiming in to say that I got into macro photography largely due to your pictures posted here. Your pics of I. Diabolica posted a couple years ago are simply amazing--as well as all your other work. I am nowhere near as good, but it gives me something to strive for.

    Eye Squiggles...parasite?

Lol This guy is i3 too. Its invisible to the naked eye and only when I was able to blow the picture up did I notice it. It seems fine otherwise.

    Eye Squiggles...parasite?

Hey everyone! I was taking some portraits of one of my idolos and when reviewing them noticed these little squiggly things on its eye. Has anyone seen this before? At first glance I thought it was a parasite. Its due for a molt in the next week or so and I plan on monitoring it, but am curious...

    3d Print Ideas?

I haven't tried tinkercad but I'll check it out! I'm currently working on my own design for a 'modular' enclosure that implements connecting posts so I can make them taller or shorter in 5 inch increments, but I just haven't had the time to dust off the printer yet...I'd love to see the model...

    3d Print Ideas?

Nice! Thats a great idea! This whole time I'm thinking of stuff to add to the enclosures and didn't even think about making the enclosures! I have some Idolos that this would work great for! You wouldn't happen to have the .stl for this would you?

    3d Print Ideas?

Thats a great idea! Could probably even make little recessed areas in the prints to hold magnets for easier moving/removing.  Thats awesome you have experience in Solidworks--thats the same program I've been using too! But I'm not the greatest at it and am looking for inspiration to dive back...

    3d Print Ideas?

Hey everyone! It's been a while since I have fired up the ol' 3d printer and I'm looking for ideas for my mantises. I'm more leaning towards functional prints rather than, say, sculptures and such. Just curious if anyone has had any ideas of things that would make your enclosures better...

    Can you sanitize fly pupa?

Thank you for the replies everyone. Just a little frustrated at the moment...everything has gone off without a hitch since I bought my ghosts back in December--no mismolts, all made it to adult, and both females were producing ootheca right up until they got sick, and within a month both my...

    Can you sanitize fly pupa?

Hey everyone. Super bummed out right now. I lost both my adult female ghosts due to what I believe is sickness. Both exhibited black puking. My first girl made it about a week and a half from noticing the puke, my second less than four days. I would like to think my husbandry isn't the issue--I...

    Ghost ooth care

If your male seems to be getting around alright I would try to pair them. I kept my males separated from my females to avoid hormone saturation and every time I would introduce one of my females they would go absolutely nuts (the little shaking dance they do is hilarious), and within 20-30...

    Ghost mating advise

Sorry to hijack, but is 8 weeks unhatched for a ghost ootheca still in the realm of viable?

Where can I buy large deli cups with ventilated tops?

I've found the cheapest way to get deli cups is to go to, well, the deli! The local walmart (I see you're in Canada, so YMMV, but it wouldn't hurt to check your local deli) is pretty generous with their cups--I usually just order a 32oz of whatever looks most edible and ask for a couple extra...

    The Gang

Well, this is my last photo of Sha-dynasty. Her health has been on the decline for about a week and a half now. I took a trip into the mountains and when I came back I found her on her back on the bottom of the 32oz deli cup I put her in (she could barely hold on to the lid of her actual...
