    pathogenic reproduction of cilnia humeralis

Hi guys!  I have just had one hatchling from this species out of know here from my female, who has never had contact with a male. I have never even owned a male of this species. It appears to be healthy and I'm amazed. I didn't think that this species could reproduce in this way. Here are some...

    panther mantis. (tarachodula pantheria)

Need advice on my L2 Orchid Mantis

Humidity is perfect. Yes an increase in temperature will also help. Try to get it up to 75-80 if you can but don't worry to much.

Need advice on my L2 Orchid Mantis

I agree with hibisucsmile. Although orchids are a high humidity species, they do not like it wet. This can kill them as mold can grow rapidly. Most likely that it is in premolt if it is swatting food away. What temp are you keeping her at?

    waxworms

Are waxworms a good treat for mantids. I am thinking about feeding them to my thistles and spinys. I know that they are not a stable food but are they ok occasionally. EG. Like when you are low on flies?

    thistle mantis

Do thistle mantids require a diapause. I have an l4 nymph that it doing very well but wondered if this was needed?

    Empusa sp. diapause

Hi guys.  I have a male Empusa sp. and was wondering whenever it was absolutely essential to put them though diapause. I know that you have to do this for breeding but is it essential for getting them to adulthood? If so then how would I go about it? He is kept at 85-88f and fed flies gut...

    Lowest acceptable temperatures?

There are several ways to heat them. My method (which I understand is not available to everyone) is to place them inside of a heated vivarium. This works especially well if you have nymphs in large quantity. The second method is to use a lamp of low wattage like you are already doing with your...

    Lowest acceptable temperatures?

An orchid mantis ( unless you are slowing down a male for breeding) would have real issue at 17c. It would have issues with metabolism and growth. However 26c is not the minimum temperature to keep an orchid and anything from 23-24c upwards would be fine.

    Sexing Orchids

As others have said they are definitely both males as they are small for sub adult and lack the green necklace of females.

    Tenodera sinensis L1-L4 size

around 1-2 inches but really depends on the instar

    Hymenopus coronatus (Orchid Mantis)

When sprayed a bit of condensation is good but should go within a few hours. Don't over do it due to bacteria. Young nymphs like it a little bit drier anyway.

My orchid mantis hasn't molted for over a month, is this normal?

Adding some additional heat and switching to flying food will help. Sometimes if given in small quantities honey can also benefit them.

    So anyway, I started chewing.

This is generally a sign of mild dehydration, but as the others have said a good spray usually does the trick.
