Brunneria borealis Is one of the most unusual North American species. They're built long and lean with spindly limb and unusually thick antennae on their tiny heads. Their stubby vestigial wings are stark black and red. this species is parthenogenetic, meaning no mating required. There are no males of the species so ooths are guaranteed to be fertile but will not hatch till spring. Nymphs pop out a few at a time over several weeks.
