Hello,

after viewing a few vids about mantids, i decided to buy a mantis to keep it as a pet. i have mine 2 months and she is doing great.  she is very curious and loves exploring my desk.

Oh they sure are. I never knew  I got fascinated bij mantids. My mantis is a Hierodula  SP.  Some ppl I know think I am crazy too keep an insect as pet.

We all seem to know people like that, but I always tell them they are crazy not to keep one too. They tend to come around to the idea, and some get mantids themselves eventually - it seems the more strongly people feel about it (even negatively), the more likely they have a hidden interest.

Think my little girl needs to molt soon, she was meh and not feeling exploring today.

And i was right. Cochise needed to molt. she did and I could observe it. Only not fully right. her backleg is bend a little. I saw it while she was hanging partly in her old skin and legs drying up.

I hope it will be healed next molt. she can use her leg with hanging upside down.

@Little Mantis Glad to see a molt was all that was wrong. Not too bad of a bend, and if she can use it she will be fine. Best of luck with the next molt.

Cochise have to get used to it till next molt. With climbing I dont see it gives her much trouble. With walking she needs to get used to it because I see she doesn't really know how to place her "foot" yet.
