I have 2 spiny flower mantis who are both ready to breed. They are from the same ootheca and I have successfully put the male on the female and he was accepted there until she realized after a few minutes and started using her forelimbs to take him off her back.
Since then, she keeps rejecting him. I’m wondering if maybe I have a male with bad genetics 🧬. Or she doesn’t want to mate with him because they are too closely related (meaning she wants fresh blood from another ooth). I have successfully bred mantises from the same ooth but also provided 1 other mantis.
Please help me if you have any tips!

these are tricky to mate
I have seen the male sit on the female for 2-3 days before actually connecting
I have a few tips
1: warm them up! 85-90F is prime for them to breed at! they'll grow at room temp (slowly), but I keep mine on heat tape set to 95 and this makes life so much easier
2: 3-4 weeks old is prime mating window for both sexes. older females are less willing to mate IDK why
3: placate that female with food! lots of it!!!
