I was wondering the dos and donts of keeping crickets.

I will buy mine from the local pet shop and use a wet cotton ball to allow them to drink from but what do i feel them that will fill them up but be good for when the mantis eats them?.

Whats safe to feed the crickets?.

Many thanks.

I keep colonies of crickets in large rubbermaid (or similar) tubs. I put about an inch of dry oatmeal in the bottom of the tub and add egg cartons or other items for the crickets to hide in. I feed crickets leafy greens and veggies. I also feed them a high quality dry dog food. Be sure to remove uneaten food before it spoils. I personally avoid commercially made cricket foods and those water pads or gels. Crickets are easy to keep.
