I purchased 1000 blue bottle fly pupae from DeShawn. They were packed with a cold pack, but yet at least 300 or more flies hatched in shipment. This seems like a large proportion of hatches for the relatively cool temp's (in the 50s here) and being packed with a cold pack. I contacted DeShawn to let him know and he just suggested I 'put them in the fridge'.
I have the flies in a grow out tank and will use as many as possible to feed, but am dissatisfied with the amount that hatched in shipping and probably won't order flies from him again.
