Why is it illegal to own Orchid Mantis's in the US? Due to their humidity requirements, it's impossible for them to establish habitats in most areas. 

 
I don't think its illegal to own orchids in the US, because if it was then I, and many other keepers have broken the law.

Sorry miss. 😛

It IS illegal to own them. They're illegal to import and posses.

USDA Agriculture will seize and destroy them at the border.

They just dont go looking within the borders.

But if for whatever reason they did, they could seize them for sure.

Whether they'd charge you is up for debate. But they could.

Same question here in Canada. LOL.

Alas, everything except Mantis religiosa and Tenodera sinensis are prohibited.

Actually someone heard from the USDA there is actually 15 different types of mantises that are allowed Including the brooner mantis and the unicorn.
