Simin grumbled quietly to himself a pile of wad up Kleenex at the end table next to him, his father had warned him to wear a warmer coat the other day. But did he listen? Noooooo he had to be stubborn, and now he was stuck in bed with a terrible head cold. And it sucked.

The night sky was stormy, light raindrops dribbling on the windows. And the soft yet stubborn thunder rumbled in the distance. You could hear the wind rattling the windows although he was cozy inside, he never minded storms. It was a peaceful feeling to him, like even though he felt terrible it was much worse outside.

Wrapping himself more firmly in the blankets Simin leaned back against the pillows the Toxodera coming into thought, it had been a few days since he saw the amazing creature. He kind of missed it, making him feel like a boyfriend missing his girlfriend. It was silly really, what were the chances that the creature was even thinking of him? Who knows just how much intelligence a Praying Mantis could have. Although he always thought they were amazing creatures. He thought humans didn’t give them enough credit.
A soft knock or what sounded like knocking caught Simin out of his thoughts, his eyes widened when he saw the Toxodera peering in the window. Eye’s glowing in the rain making it look even more majestic. Its eye’s peered at the window handle which was what caused Simin to jump out of bed, but not before swaying as a bout of dizziness over took him. Making his way to the window.
He opened the window making the much smaller dragon mantis zoom in out of the storm, Simin blinked surprisingly before shutting the windows.
“Come in?”.
The Mantis had already made itself comfortable among the pillows, curling into one its body soaking wet. Stumbling over to the bed the man gently took a blanket and very lightly dabbed the creature so not to put to much pressure onto the Insects body. The dragon like creature seemed to lean into the warmth gazing up at the man almost gratefully.
Settling in bed Simin jumped startled as the Mantis crawled onto his chest its body lazily laying against his body. Its long slender body stretched out. Simin blinked nervously seeing the creature yet so small but still intimidating in a way so close to his face. Hand shaking he lightly reached out using one finger to stroke the creatures back, and to its surprise it almost leaned into the touch. Like it liked it, he wasn’t sure why this amazing creature picked him of all people. To stick around, but he wasn’t about to argue.
He was lonely, he didn’t have a lot of friends. He wasn’t really a social person. Sometimes he could upset people without meaning to, and he asked a lot of questions. But overall he was a good person, he just didn’t know how to handle people. He ususally stuck to himself, but he couldn’t deny he always felt a special bond with mantis. Like they were his friends, and that people didn’t give them enough credit to just how smart they really are.
Pulling the blanket up over him and the mantis very gently. He leaned back into the pillows, his body feeling very relaxed. It was odd how such a small creature could make him feel almost, well safe. He felt protected, and loved. Cracking open an eye he noticed the Mantis almost fell asleep, as close to sleep as they could get anyway. And with a gentle hand lightly over the mantis’s body. He slowly drifted off to sleep, soft snores from his congestion yet a peaceful expression on his face as he slept.
As his Mantis companion watched over him.
