I've been wanting to breed and keep several species to raise/sell/trade throughout the year. Question is... what the heck do breeders do when too much of their stock reaches adulthood during the winter? What if you have an ooth hatch during the winter which yields more nymphs than practical to raise? Would it be fairly easy to find someone through the forums/online willing to take many any unwanted nymphs... even as a give away if desperate?

Also, in your opinion, which species are the most desirable year round? Not necessarily the most expensive species, just desirable. I'm anxious, have the means, and I'm ready to jump in for better or worse. ?

I myself am not a breeder, but as far as I can tell, most breeders just sell off the adults as breeding pairs or breeders to those who already have specimens of the opposite ***. You could also breed them yourself and sell the females as pre-bred, or sell her ooths as she lays them.

The most popular species seem to be ghosts, orchids, Idolos, dead leafs (D. truncata in particular), Spiny flowers, violins, Giant Africans, and Giant asians. There are many other popular species, but those are the ones I see sell out relatively fast and are always talked about on these forums.

Good luck!

Thanks @River Dane, I'll research those species. I've been studying Ghosts and have decided that I want to buy at least one or perhaps a sexed pair. I always thought they were a  little on the ugly side, but the more I look at them the more I like them... so ugly they're cute. I do seem to have good luck with the giant Asians.

Duh... it never occurred to me to breed then sell the ooths or pre-bred females! ?
