Hi i am new here and i am thinking about having a mantis
So first i have to pick a mantis species that is suitable for me
Could i have some pros and cons?

The first thing I would recommend is looking into which species are legal to keep as pets in your country! In Canada we are only allowed Chinese & European Mantids, and I’ve been looking for MONTHS for a European Mantis I can purchase online. The majority of well known sites online only ship to the US. I read that European Mantis’s are apparently quite easy to care for and are good for beginners.

phyllocrania paradoxa/most hieros/rhomoderas/pseudocreobotra wahlbergi are the easiest "exotic" mantids, as long as you know the basics and their needs (some need higher temps/humidity but all are the most "forgiving species")

theres not a lot of cons for any, except that some might be a little picky and go on a hunger strike or they choose the dumbest place to molt
