What is the best way to feed Drosophila melanogaster Fruit flies to baby praying mantises?

Should I put some of the wood filaments that came with my shipment Drosophila melanogaster fruit flies in with my newly hatched baby Mantises to help them eat better, or is it wiser to just leave the habitat free of wood filaments just a couple of twigs?

The wood filament you’re probably referring too is called excelsior. The mantises don’t need that to eat, leave it in with the flies.
