I was thinking since grass mantids are so small, have such small forearms, and look very much like walking sticks .... are they as fun and interesting to keep as more common species such as a chinese or grandis ?

Just depends on your interests. Personally I find some of the others a little more fun to raise. However the grass mantids to seem to exhibit behavior I have not seen in others. For example they usually hunt with their arms stretched out in front of them. I say git it a shot and see what you think for yourself.
