devil flower mantis cannibalism

I had a pair of two devil flower mantids (idolomantis) and one decided one night to go for the other I kept them well fed but I suspect that the heat was to low at 23c? One was l3 and one was l4 but they both started at l3? Any ideas?

Even though that species is more communal than most species, they will still eat each other from time to time.

There is no such thing as a completely communal mantis species. Sorry for your loss!

No species is totally communal. It was your risk by keeping them together.
