Can females produce an ootheca and not be pregnant? I had 2 females produce 5 ootheca's and it has been 7 weeks and nothing is happening.

as for me, hatching them indoors went just fine. releasing went even better. Recapturing was good but the long winter on the one's in captivity not going so good. They do not have a long life to start with. And we have long winters.

NOW not to jack the thread. My question is: how do you get the mantis to drink water. I keep the habitat moist but never see them drinking until yesterday. I removed the mantis, sticks, twigs and sponge to clean the habitat. I placed the mantis near the sponge and caught her like sucking...

Came back from being away for a few days. All looked and seemed just fine, when I noticed the right read leg was not looking normal. It appeared to be broken and not in the normal position. Will the leg mend itself? The mantis ...no doubt has no problem eating, just getting around the habitat...

I do not know the species, pic attached (one you see) ;) And they are 5 month sold. I re-captured them after they were released in June. I want to keep them for the winter and release. The one has already produced (2) oothea's .
