    Dead babies

Very high rate of death. I am waiting till it gets a bit warmer and I can launch them outside. I had one Chinese mantis sack hatch about a month ago. I said good morning to the one that had survived, noticed another sack had hatched. Put them in there own container. Went to check on the other...

    Molting

I tried to give my mantis honey. Looked at me like I was nuts. Then it tried to eat me, head down on my finger and mouth going back and forth couldn't get a good bite....

    Fruit Flies

I tried mealworms they just didn't bite. They watched them move but not enough to want them for dinner. As we continue to play out the movie The One with Jet Li there are 4 left.

    Fruit Flies

I have been feeding the Chinese Nymphs fruit flies. They have molted a few times and some are bigger than an inch. What is the next size up in food that I should feed them? Any ideas?

    Molting

Had the smallest one start to molt, a short time later it was on the bottom with head not attached. Down to 7 . There is one that if I blow on it it runs around like it is crazed. The others might flex a bit but this one goes like bat out of hell.

    Molting

I am now down to 9 many never get out of molt mode some were lunch. My opinion is I had height challenged mantids last year. I have found 3 egg sacks no higher than 6 inches off of ground. Those three are now in containers in the house. There is one high up in the Japanese maple tree. We will...

    Molting

When I let a just hatched group on a plant last summer I saw a few take a drink from drops of water on plant. It was very entertaining to watch them. It was a bit of a struggle some would jump on my arm when I was try to shake other on to plant. But they are very entertaining garden workers. I...

    Molting

I keep a sponge in a tray this way they can get water when they want it. It is neat to watch them drink. Just fed the kids flightless flies they can be quick at times

    Molting

I have two at the moment Carolina and Chinese. Lots of die off from both. The Carolina produced less than a quarter of the amount of nymphs. What is recommended humidity? Had put a few in my grow tent and they climbed to top of plant and were dried out by LED

    Molting

The mortality rate of molting nymphs is very high. Is there anything one can do? I have trimmed a few old molts from the mantis, some just drag the old shell with them. Comments

    Hello

I have a number of mantis that have molted some are still dragging the old shell. Is there anything you can do? There are a number that didn't survive the molt. It is a high mortality hobby & so is life in the garden.

DO NOT BUY FROM US MANTIS!

Thanks I had wanted to visit them as a beginner wanted to see the operation. Also if I see I might buy as I might not have seen or thought of that item. But he was no visit rule, you can pick up at door but no tours. I kind of grew up with if you have a product or products you would want people...

    Hello

My second egg sack hatched the Carolina mantis. They seem less aggressive than the Chinese. The Chinese mantis will not let another walk by with out taking a stance. At times it looks like it is boxing. They are neat to watch, I have a sponge in a dish which they visit and take water. I will...

    Hello

Been watching the forum for a bit. I refer to them as farm workers. I had two egg sacks hatch last year out of ten purchased. This year so far purchased three Chinese egg sacks and one Carolina. There is one from last year on my maple tree and I just found one in my asparagus bush, which was...
